Summary:An experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of planting density and fertilizer on the flowering of the hybrids of Dura deli x Pisifera (DP) and Dura dumpy x Pisifera (DyP). The results showed that as the planting density increased the number of male inflorescences and abortion rate per palm also increased, and the number of female inflorescences and sex ratio decreased. Further examination revealed that the aborted inflorescences were predominantly females. So far fertilizer treatments at various levels gave no positive response on the flowering. This needs further investigation.
