Summary:Three species of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi: Acaulospora tuberculata, Gigaspora margarita, and Glomus etunicatum were used to produce spores in test tube culture containing sand or zeolite media with kudzu (Pueraria phaseoloides) as host plant. The media were enriched with Hoagland nutrients. After eight months of the experiment both Gigaspora margarita and Glomus etunicatum produced spores in either of the media. The number of spores produced in sand containing media were higher than those in zeolite containing media, whereas Acaulospora tuberculata did not produce spores in either sand or zeolite media
