Summary:Hemogen and Neohemogen pulvis ad us. vet., its modernized form, were comparated om a study in swine, in pharmacokinetics and field efficacy trials. It was found that the absorption of iron was faster and more efficient in case of the new preparation and its exertion was more retarded. The favourable characteristics of Neohemogen resulted in a haemoglobin concentration higher by 1.22 mmol/1, in a packed cell volume higher by o.o21 l/l and in an average haemoglobin concentration of erythrocytes higher by 2.49 mmol/1 at the 21st day of field trial. Parameters, indicating more directly the iron supply of organism, were also more favourable in the group treated by the new preparation. The daily main body mass gain was higher by 23 g until the age of 21 days and the losses lower by 5.37 per cent, compared to the group treated with Hemogen
