Summary: | Vitis amurensis is a fundamental gene source of breeding for frost hardiness in grapevine. Besides its frost hardiness, its other valuable properties such as early ripening, tolerance to Agrobacterium, powdery mildew, downy mildew and Botrytis, can be transferred into new varieties by one or two backcrossings. The present publication epitomising 50 years'breeding experiences is to commemorate Professor Istvan Koleda, who directed the breeding programme for forty years. |
