Summary: | The salt % estimated directly from the conductivity of the soil paste is not equivalent to the actual soluble salt content of the soil. For this reason, the grouping of Hungarian salt affected soils according to salt content does not conform with the internationally recognized categories. It follows from this that tables/graphs elaborated in the USA to express the salt tolerance of various plants can only be used to draw qualitative conclusions under Hungarian conditions. |
