Summary: | In the past few years regular phytopathological observations have been carried out in the black pine stands of Hungarian. The primary aim was to study the spread and biology of the fungus Sphaeropsis sapinea (Fr.) Dyko and Sutton (syn. Diplodia pinea /Desm./ Kickx) that cause the destruction of young shoots and leaves. Besides the well-known symptoms of the disease, new types of damage were observed in many cases. By laboratory studies it was then established that new types of symptoms were caused by the fungi Dothistroma pini Hulbary (sexual form Scirrhia pini Funk and Parker) and by Sclerophoma pihyophila Corda. Both pathogens were well known in Europa occurring on pine trees but their massive presence and their symptoms were not described. At the present the two pathogens endanger the Hungarian black pine stands on an increasing surface |
