Summary:Foeniculum vulgare belongs to the family of the aromatic-medicical herbs. It is a plant of the Mediterranean countries. In Greece, it is recommended to be grown on mountainous or demi-mountainous regions for the improvement of the agricultural income. Foeniculum vulgare contains ethereal oil (anise oil) which is received by distillation with vapor of water. Foeniculum vulgare is used as a flavouring in bread making, in liqueurs, in confectionery and in medicine because of its diuretic and expectorant qualities.
