Summary:In 18 Chios ewes, divided in 3 groups according to a changeover design, 3 isonitrogenous and isoenegetic diets were offered. The control diet (A) consisted of barley grain, maize grain, wheat bran, cottonseed cake, alfalfa bay and minerals while in diet B cereals were substituted for sugarbeet pulp silage and molasses whereas diet C, in addition, contained urea instead of cottonseed cake. The average dairy milk production of the ewes receiving diets B and C was higher than that of the control ewes (780 and 740 g vs. 640 g, P0.05). Milk fat percentage of control ewes higher than that of ewes from groups B and C (7,25% vs. 6,39 and 6,13%, P0.05). There were no statistically significant differences in the total milk fat production neither in non fat solids among the treatments.
