Summary: | The relationship between the occurrence of Nesidiocoris tenuis and its effect on yield of tomato is evaluated. For the four overlapping growing periods of tomato, populations of the adults and nymphs of Nesidiocoris significantly varied across the periods. The highest mean adult population (5.5/plant) was observed during November-January growing period, and the least population of 2.6/plant during September-November period. The highest nymph population of 20.1/plant was noted during September-November and 10.6/plant in November-January. Significant positive correlation between nymph and number of necrotic brown rings, and flower drop per plant were observed. Nymph population and fruit weight per plant were highly significantly negative (-0.76), an indication of the nymphs being more destructive than the adults |
