Summary:The count, isolation and identification of Salmonella in different media: wastewater ýý(Zenein wastewater treatment plant, EI-GIza, Egypt ), chIcken feces (farm of Central ýLaboratory for Control of Veterinary Biologics, Cairo, Egypt), sheep dung and cattle ýdung (farm of Veterinary Serum and Vaccine Research Institute ,Abbasia, Cairo, Egypt) ýwere carried out in the present investigation. The media samples were transferred to the ýlaboratory in sterilized boxes for microbiological analysis. The viable total colony counts ýshowed that the highest total bacterial count was found in raw wastewater ( 39 X 10. 3 ýcfu/ml) and lowest total colony count was found in secondary treatment (23x 10. ýý.cfu/ml). While the highest coli form counts was found in chicken feces, (46 X l0. l ýcfu/ml), and the lowest coli form counts was found in secondary treatment (31 X 10. ýcfu/ml). While the highest Salmonella counts was found in chicken feces (38 X I 06 ýcfu/ml), and the lowest Salmonella counts was found in secondary treatment (5 X I 03 ýcfu/ml). One hundred and eleven isolates were obtained in pure cultures from different ýmedia; 29 from wastewater, 38 from chicken feces, 18 from sheep dung and 26 from ýcattle dung plates. The morphological, biochemical and serological characterization tests ýwere used generally in the identification of Salmonella isolates. The results recorded that ýý12 of Salmonella typhi serotypes , 17of Salmonella typhimurium serot\}pes were isolated ýfrom wastewater, 22 of Salmonella pullorium serotypes , 16 of Salmonella galunarium ýserotypes were isolated from chicken feces, II of Salmonella enteratidis serotypes , 7 of ýSalmonella saint paul serotypes were isolated from sheep dung, 18 of Salmonella hadar ýserotypes and 8 of Salmonella dublin serotypes were isolated from cattle dung.ý
