Summary:Drechslera sp., Fusarium sp. and Rhizoctonia solani were found, in this ascending order to be both associated with and pathogenic to common bean (CB) roots and hypocotyls. In vitro tests of 7 fungicides, benomyl and copper oxyquinolate were very effective (with ED S less than I mg/l) against Fusarium sp. and Rhizoctonia solani, the most important pathogens, followed by procymidone. Evaluation of these fungicides under field conditions resulted in different pictures as captan, pencycuron, copper oxyquinolate and procymidone were more effective than other tested fungicides in preventing the rot caused by soilbrone plant pathogenic fungi.
