Summary:The conversion of the clear-cutting system into the selection system consists in successive and increasing implementation of selection principles. There are three basic principles: 1st, selection concerning a single tree or a group of trees, 2nd, arrangement of the age classes or development classes one below the other or one beside the other, 3rd, continuous regeneration on all plots making possible the growth and development of an advance growth or a plantation. The sites with good fertility, sufficient precipitation and sufficient percentage of shade bearing species are necessary for the conversion. The conversion into the selection forest will not be suitable in immission regions and climatically harsh ones.
