Summary: | Only ten cases of human listeriosis were reported by the Slovak medical services during the past five years. Veterinary services reported only one outbreak of clinical listeriosis killing forty sheep in a herd. Outbreaks reported from abroad point out the danger of foodborne L. monocytogenes infections. It is concluded that food inspection should be completed by examination for listeria infections, particularly if hazardous foods are tested. |
