Summary:The first record of several specimens of tubenose goby (Proterorhinus marmoratus) was in 1994 from the single place of stony bank of upper lake of the Nove Mlyny reservoirs, far away from its original distribution area. During followed years P. marmoratus spread around the whole lake and penetrated downstream to the second and third lake further downstream to the Dyje river. Contemporary we also recorded the natural spreading of P. marmoratus upstream from the lowest Morava river and from the Danube, however not so intensively as expansion was from the Nove Mlyny reservoir. At present P. marmoratus is a dominant littoral fish species in the lower Dyje and Morava rivers. Possible origins of the first P. marmoratus in the Czech Republic are discussed.
