Summary:Wheat (Triticum aestivum) yield and wild oats (Avena fatua) dry matter production from 23 field trials conducted over the last three crop seasons in several locations of the wheat producing area of the country were used for assessing crop losses. Comparing untreated plots with the best chemical control in each trial, it was concluded that yield reductions were 21.9 qqm/ha or 37% less if adequate control measures were taken. For the wheat producing region comprising the VII and X political regions (35 Grades to 40 Grades South), area where wild oats is the most important grassweed, an annual loss of US$ 25.7 millions was estimated
