Summary:A glasshouse trial was made to evaluate the recommended nutritive solution for soilless strawberry production in systems with complete recycling of the drainage. The two cultivars used in this experiment showed different results. Elsanta produced a higher yield, but had a lower sugar content of the fruits compared to Darselect. The nutritive solution revealed to be not adapted for systems with complete recycling of the drainage, because the analysis of mineral composition of the plants showed an imbalance of the components K and Ca. The composition of the nutritive solution was re-evaluated in relation to the consumption of mineral components of the whole plant. The calculated solution had a higher concentration of K, a lower concentration of Ca and as a consequence a higher K/Ca ratio. Further experiments are necessary to test this nutritive solution proposed for systems with complete recycling of drainage.
