Summary: | Study on the inheritance of a breeding trait 'starch content' in hybrid combinations of potato (Solanum tuberosum) was realized in the central part of the Republic of Belarus in 2008-2009. The material for the study included 21 combinations which were received with participation of the 5 breeds of potato: Albatross, Lazar, Adler, Svitanok Kievsky, Teteriv. There was marked a possibility of selection enriching of the trait by utilization of parental forms with a high and raised starch content. It was shown that the starch content in breeds Albatross and Lazar was caused by mainly additive effects of genes. Therefore they can be used in breeding for starchiness by hybridization with other forms possessing high and raised starch content. Prevalence of dominant and epistatic effects of genes in determination of starch content in breeds Adler and Svitanok Kievsky made it possible to use heterosis phenomena as the prevalence of the variance of a common combining ability over the variance of a specific combining ability of these varieties made it possible to conclude on the predominance of the dominant and epistatic effects of genes in determination starch content. A high proportion of genotypic variability in the combinations obtained with participation of breeds Adler, Svitanok Kievsky and Lazar, indicated of their high heterozygosis of the genes that determine the trait of a 'starch content'. Varieties Albatross and Teteriv were more homozygosis that was proved by a high proportion of non-hereditary variability in the combinations produced by hybridization. |
