Summary:In the conditions of the Republic of Belarus there was developed a method for comprehensive assessment of fattening and meat traits of pigs by testing animals on the index of meat and fattening qualities and the selection of sows (Beatrisa; Tajga; Khimera; Soya; Volshebnitsa; Palitra) and boars (Smyk; Svat; Svitanak; Skarb; Syabr; Drachun; Stalaktit 8387) on the effect of compatibility (heterosis). There was proposed an optimal scheme of group breeding of boar and sows of the breed in accordance with fattening and meaty traits taking into account the coefficient of combinability (heterosis). This technique which included testing of animals by the index of fattening and meaty traits and selection of sows and boars by effect of compatibility allowed to increase efficiency of pork production at 3,5-5,0% in the condition of production breeding without additional expenditure.
