Efficiency of selection for increase in productive qualities of pigs of Belarusian large white breed with the use of marker genes

Summary:In the conditions of the Republic of Belarus there was analyzed the influence of polymorphous variants of genes of reproductive (ESR) and meat-fattening qualities (IGF-2) on productivity of pigs of Belarusian large white breed. It was established that sows with genotype BB of gene ESR truly (p is less than 0.001) surpassed in multiple pregnancy analogues with genotype AA by 0.87-1.57 piglet per one farrow. It was established that hogs with genotype QQ and Qq of gene IGF-2 truly surpassed their analogues with genotype qq in development. They also surpassed fattened young pigs in meat-fattening qualities. Genes ESR and IGF-2 could be considered as genetic markers of reproductive qualities and speed of growth of pigs of Belarusian large white breed. There were suggested schemes of selection for increase in reproductive and meat-fattening qualities.
