Summary:Most ecologically safe way of preharvest removal of potato tops is its mechanical crushing by special machines. Machines used in Belarus facilities are unproductive (width of capture-1,5 m, it does not allow to harvest qualitatively potato tops from row width). The specialized mowers-grinders which are produced abroad, also are not adapted for work on soils, littered by stones and with presence of great volume of weed vegetation. Cost of foreign technical equipment considerably above domestic. Therefore development of manufacture in republic of a specialized mower-grinder will give significant economic benefit. Substantiation of working bodies of machines for crushing of potato tops and weed vegetation are considered. It is shown, that perspective direction of perfection of such machines is application of disk knifes on flexible draft. Rational parameters of knifes are: a diameter of 80 mm and a corner of sharpening of 30°. Installation of disk knifes on an axis with an opportunity of turn raises quality indicators of performance of technological process and working tool resource
