Summary:Results of the comparative analysis of yielding capacity and quality of seed grains taken from seven barley varieties are presented. Minimal accumulation of 90Sr in barley seed grains showed Yakub and Gonar varieties. Guidelines on cultivation of the barley in the conditions of radioactive contamination of soil are given. Radionuclides content in barley straw did not exceed permissible level during cultivation on sod-podzolic soils with 90Sr contamination density up to 30 kBk/m2
