Summary:The evolution of machinery in sugar beet growing will be determined by the demands of the sugar beet sector, by the profitability of the crop, by the technical progress and by the environmental conditions. The machines used for drilling, for cropping methods and for harvesting will probably become larger and will have greater capacities. The machines will be equipped with more electronics and computer systems. The goals are: better management of the machine, better performance, input reduction and more capacities. Soil management will probably be an important topic for the future. The emphasis would be on less heavy material, better performing tyres or other cropping systems.
