Summary:This report details the software requirements for scheduled Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP) and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) environmental satellite sensor upgrades for both the Fleet Numerical Oceanography Center (FNOC) and the Tactical Environmental Support System (TESS). The report describes current and future sensor packages flown on DMSP and NOAA polar orbiting platforms. Planned algorithm philosophies and options for both central site (FNOC) and tactical sites (TESS) are presented and recommendations are made.
