Summary:Information is provided on external degree programs offered by U.S. colleges and universities. These academic programs are offered by an accredited institution that stipulates that less than 25% of the degree requirements be campus-based and that provides instruction for off-campus learning. Institutions offering external degree programs are listed alphabetically by state. For each institution, a mailing address that was current fall 1982 is provided, along with 15 items describing the program: the degree title and areas of study available; institutional accreditation; the kind or amount of previous education required for admission to the program; academic practices regarding prior learning and standardized achievement tests; the number of semester or quarter hours required to receive a degree; the minimum on-campus time required for study in order to complete the program; the kinds of instruction for off-campus learning available; information materials available; the grading system; the enrollment as of 1982; the number of external degrees conferred by the program through 1981; the year the program began; and the institution's policy regarding the acceptance of out-of-state students in the program and the tuition differential for these students.
