Summary:The Florida Community and Junior College Television and Radio Consortium was formed in 1974 to enable all 28 of Florida's community colleges to coordinate their efforts in using broadcast media to present courses offering college credit. This document recounts a brief history of the consortium; sketches its organization into six regional groups, each served by a local public television station; comments on the difficulties associated with locating or generating high quality educational television or radio series; notes the need for adapting instructional materials to local needs; reviews problems inhibiting wider use of public and commercial airwaves for educational purposes by the consortium's member schools; and catalogs some of the major benefits to the members of cooperating under the consortium plan. Appendixes name the coordinators of the instructional television and radio programs at each of the community colleges and list the courses that have been offered by the consortium. (PGD)
