Summary:The invention provides a cationic electrocoating composition comprising a resinous phase dispersed in an aqueous medium, said resinous phase comprising: (a) a cationic electrodepositable resin and characterised by also comprising (b) a hydroxyl-free, alkylated polyether containing at least 3 ether oxygens per molecule and from 1 to 4 saturated hydrocarbon groups separating the ether oxygens; the alkyl groups containing on average at least 2 carbon atoms; said polyether having a solubility of 0.01 to 50 parts by weight in 100 parts by weight of water at 25 DEG C, and having a boiling point greater than 250 DEG C.
