Summary:Provided is a low/medium-carbon ferromanganese production method capable of improving the overall yield rate of manganese by reducing both loss due to formation of manganese slag and loss due to evaporation. The low/medium-carbon ferromanganese production method carries out decarburization refining by loading high-carbon ferromanganese melt into a reaction vessel having a top-blowing lance and a bottom-blowing tuyere and blowing in an oxygen-containing gas from the top-blowing lance while blowing in an inert gas from the bottom-blowing tuyere, wherein before and/or during the decarburization refining of the high-carbon ferromanganese melt, return slag formed during past decarburization refining of high-carbon ferromanganese is loaded into the reaction vessel.
