Summary:This invention relates to a mining apparatus 10. The apparatus 10 includes a vehicle chassis 12 and a plurality of steerable continuous rubber track assemblies 14 mounted on the chassis 12 for propelling the apparatus 10. Each track assembly 14 has a pair of first planar or flat ground engaging surfaces 26 and an opposing pair of second planar or flat ground engaging surfaces 28. As a result of the track assembly 14 being pivotally displaceable, the first and second surfaces 26 and 28 could respectively be brought into contact with the ground 29. Therefore, by pivotally adjusting the track assembly 14 between having either the first or second contact surface 26 or 28 in contact with the ground 29, the height of the chassis 12 above the ground 29 could be adjusted.
