Cette invention concerne un procédé et un produit permettant d'obtenir des feuilles de papier dotées d'une étirabilité accrue dans le sens transversal. Ce procédé consiste à utiliser un tissu étirable dans le sens transversal sur lequel vient se placer une bande papier humide. On obtient ainsi un produit qui offre une étirabilité accrue dans le sens transversal.
