Summary:A process for producing tert-butyl 4'-methyl-2-biphenylcarboxylate characterized by reacting 4'-methyl-2-biphenylcarboxylic acid with isobutene in the presence of an acid catalyst. The process permits high-quality tert-butyl 4'-methyl-2-biphenylcarboxylate to be readily produced in a high yield in an industrially advantageous manner under mild reaction conditions including the ordinary temperature without resort to complicated operations and dangerous solvents. Procédé de production de tert-butyl 4'-méthyl-2-biphénylcarboxylate, qui consiste à faire réagir de l'acide 4'-méthyl-2-biphénylcarboxylique avec de l'isobutène en présence d'un catalyseur d'acide. Ledit procédé permet d'obtenir facilement du tert-butyl 4'-méthyl-2-biphénylcarboxylate de haute qualité, à haut rendement et de manière industriellement avantageuse, dans des conditions de réaction douces, dont la température ambiante, sans qu'il soit nécessaire d'avoir recours à des opérations compliquées et à des solvants dangereux.
