A receiver outputs video information of a program information image prepared based on program information data to an external recording apparatus, and causes the external recording apparatus to perform picture recording during a predetermined period ending a predetermined time before a broadcast start timing of a registered program that has been reserved for picture recording. Thereafter, while outputting video information of the reserved picture recording program to the external recording apparatus, the receiver causes the apparatus to perform picture recording for a period between a timing that is specified several seconds before the broadcast start timing of the reserved picture recording program and a broadcast end timing of the same program. As a result, the external recording apparatus can automatically perform picture recording for the video information of the program information image and that of the reserved picture recording program based on registered information of the reserved picture recording program received by the receiver. Ce récepteur, tout en sortant l'information vidéo du programme réservé d'enregistrement vidéo vers l'appareil d'enregistrement extérieur, provoque ensuite l'enregistrement vidéo par cet appareil pendant une période située entre le moment spécifié plusieurs secondes avant l'heure de démarrage de la diffusion du programme réservé d'enregistrement vidéo et l'heure de fin de diffusion de ce programme. De ce fait, l'appareil d'enregistrement extérieur peut effectuer automatiquement l'enregistrement vidéo de l'information vidéo d'un programme et celui du programme d'enregistrement vidéo réservé en fonction de l'information enregistrée du programme d'enregistrement vidéo réservé reçu par le récepteur.
