Summary:A manganese complex represented by the formula (1): [Mn(H2NNHCONH2)3](NO3)2 which has a weight loss of at most 1 % after being heated at 107 DEG C for 400 hr. The manganese complex possesses an excellent heat stability and can be used as an active ingredient of a gas generator for an air bag. The gas generator contains the above manganese complex. When the manganese complex is incorporated in the form of a complex mixture thereof with a semicarbazide and/or a carbohydrazide into the gas generator, the gas generator has such a characteristic that the content of the combustion residue in an inflator is high.
