Summary:An artificial pancreas is described herein which comprises one or more viable and physiologically active pancreatic islet cells capable of producing insulin, encapsulated within a semipermeable spheroidal membrane comprising agar gel. Further disclosed are a method for producing agar microbeads, a tissue implantation method and a reseeding method for the artificial pancreas. L'invention concerne un pancréas artificiel qui comprend une ou plusieurs cellules îlots pancréatiques viables et physiologiquement actives pouvant produire de l'insuline et encapsulées dans une membrane sphéroïde semi-perméable qui comprend un gel agar. L'invention concerne également un procédé de production de micro-perles d'agar, un procédé d'implantation de tissus et un procédé de réensemencement pour le pancréas artificiel.
