The subject invention concerns the discovery of Bacillus thuringiensis isolates with advantageous activity against weevils. In preferred embodiments of the invention, B.t. isolates, or toxins therefrom, are used to control alfalfa weevils, boll weevils, and/or rice water weevils. The toxins can be administered to the pests through a variety of methods including the transformation of bacteria or plants to produce the weevil-active toxins. Cette invention concerne la découverte d'isolats de Bacillus Thurigiensis présentant une activité intéressante contre les charançons. Selon les réalisations préférées de l'invention, ces isolats de Bacillus Thurigiensis, ou des toxines élaborées à partir de ces derniers, servent à la protection contre les charançons tels que le charançon de la luzerne, l'anthonome du cotonnier, et/ou le charançon aquatique du riz. Lesdites toxines peuvent être administrées aux insectes nuisibles au moyen de divers procédés, y compris la transformation de bactéries ou de plantes de sorte qu'elles produisent des toxines actives contre les charançons.
