Summary: | A method and composition useful in fabricating radiation-absorbing contact lenses, especially ultraviolet (UV) and visible (tint) light-absorbing lenses. The radiation-absorber is incorporated into a contact lens in the presence of a buffer which maintains the pH near neutral. Subsequently, the radiation-absorber is chemically affixed to the lens by raising the pH to a highly basic level.
L'invention concerne un procédé et une composition utiles dans la fabrication de lentilles de contact absorbant les rayonnements, en particulier la lumière ultraviolette (UV) et la lumière visible (lentilles teintées). L'agent absorbant le rayonnement est incorporé dans une lentille de contact en présence d'un tampon qui maintient le pH proche de la neutralité. Ensuite, l'agent absorbant le rayonnement est fixé chimiquement à la lentille, par augmentation du pH jusqu'à une valeur fortement basique. |
