Summary:A bendable ultrasonic probe (202) includes a rod shaped carrier (204) which has an insertion tip (206) with an ultrasonic device (208) for insertion into a patient's body during a medical endosurgical operation. The probe (202) also has a handle (210) attached to the carrier (204) for use by a surgeon in grasping the probe and manipulating the location and positioning of the ultrasonic device (208) in a patient's body to ultrasonically image the tissue of interest. A biopsy needle assembly (212) is used with the apparatus (200) for taking a biopsy sample of the tissue of interest. A sheath (218) is provided having a rigid, self-supporting body portion that may be used with the bendable ultrasonic probe. The sheath (218) may have a therapy channel (220) for conveying surgical tools. Sonde flexible à ultrasons (202) comportant un support en forme de tige (204) pourvu d'une extrémité d'insertion portant un dispositif à ultrasons (208), et qu'on introduit dans le corps du patient en vue d'une intervention endochirurgicale. La sonde (202) présente une poignée (210) fixée au support (204), permettant au praticien de saisir la sonde et de déplacer et positionner le dispositif à ultrasons (208) à l'intérieur du corps afin d'obtenir une image ultrasonique des tissus à étudier. Une aiguille de biopsie (212) associée à l'appareil (200) permet d'effectuer des prélèvements des tissus à étudier. Une gaine (218), munie d'une partie rigide autoporteuse et pouvant s'utiliser avec la sonde à ultrasons, peut comporter un canal de traitement (220) destiné au passage d'instruments chirurgicaux.
