A fastener adapted to expand into bone has a tubular body having a longitudinal opening therethrough with a stop within the opening. The body (10) has a head (10) at one end and a longitudinal slot (24) extends through the body near the other end to form ribs (12) that expand radially when the body is compressed. A puller (4) projects through the opening in the rivet (3) and has a head (20) that engages the other end to compress the rivet when the puller is pulled through the body. An annular recess (19) is formed in the puller near the head and the other end of the body is crimped into the recess to aid expansion of the ribs. The puller is weakened at a point (30) so that it will break upon continued pulling after the ribs reach a fully expanded state. Une attache, conçue pour se dilater dans un os, présente un corps tubulaire doté d'un passage longitudinal et un butoir placé dans ce passage. Le corps (10) comprend une tête (11) à une de ses extrémités et il est parcouru par une fente longitudinale (24) jusqu'à proximité de son autre extrémité, de façon à dégager des nervures (12) qui s'écartent dans le sens radial quand le corps est comprimé. Un extracteur (4) dépasse de l'ouverture du rivet (3) et présente une tête (20) qui entre en prise avec l'autre extrémité pour comprimer le rivet quand on tire l'extracteur au travers du corps. Un évidement annulaire (19) est ménagé près de la tête de l'extracteur et l'autre extrémité du corps y est sertie pour faciliter l'écartement des nervures. L'extracteur présente une zone d'affaiblissement (30) permettant sa rupture par une traction survenant après l'écartement complet des nervures.
