An improved therapy member (10) for treatment of sprains, muscle aches and orthopaedic injuries is provided which is very flexible to permit the member to be placed in conforming relationship with a patient's limb or other body part, while also allowing effective hot or cold thermal therapy. The therapy member (10) preferably includes an internal bladder (12) having a fluid inlet (26) and a fluid outlet (28). The bladder (12) is substantially surrounded by a body of flexible, thermally conductive gel (32), the latter being encased within a flexible fabric-type sheath (34). An inlet/outlet fluid supply tubing assembly (16) is coupled with the bladder (12) in order to permit circulation of hot or cold fluid through the bladder (12) for therapy purposes. The gel (32) advantageously includes a water soluble humectant entrapped within a polyacrylamide matrix. L'invention concerne un élément thérapeutique amélioré (10) pour le traitement de foulures, de douleurs musculaires et de blessures orthopédiques. Cet élément est très flexible, afin de permettre de l'adapter étroitement à la jambe (ou à une autre partie du corps) du patient, tout en permettant un traitement efficace par la chaleur ou par le froid. L'élément thérapeutique (10) comporte de préférence une vessie interne (12) ayant une entrée (26) et une sortie de fluide (28). La vessie (12) est entourée sensiblement par un corps (32) en un gel flexible et conducteur de chaleur, lequel est enveloppé dans une gaine flexible (34) en un matériau du type tissu. L'agencement (16) de conduites d'alimentation et d'évacuation du fluide est couplé avec la vessie (12) afin de permettre la circulation de fluide froid ou chaud dans la vessie (12), à des fins thérapeutiques. Le gel (32) contient, d'une manière avantageuse, un agent humectant soluble dans l'eau piégé dans une matrice de polyacrylamide.
