A biaxially oriented polyester film which has excellent resistance to both dry and wet heat degradations, can withstand the use in an atmosphere having a relatively high moisture concentration, and is useful as an electric insulating film, a film for a transparent electrode, an electromagnetic wave absorption film (e.g. a film used for an inspection window of a microwave oven) and a reflection film. This polyester contains ethylene 2,6-naphthalene-dicarboxylate as the main repeating unit. L'invention se rapporte à un film de polyester à orientation biaxiale, qui possède une excellente résistance contre les dégradations par la chaleur à la fois à sec et au mouillé, qui peut résister à un usage dans une atmosphère ayant une concentration en humidité relativement élevée, et qui peut servir de film électro-isolant, de film pour une électrode transparente, de film d'absorption des ondes électromagnétiques (utilisé par exemple pour la fenêtre d'inspection d'un four à micro-ondes) et de film de réflexion. Ce polyester contient du 2,6-naphtalène-dicarboxylate d'éthylène comme unité répétitive principale.
