These objectives are attained by forming a cellulosic sheet containing a small amount, but less than about 2 %, of activated carbon having absorbed onto the carbon a volatile flavorant. L'invention se rapporte à l'enrobage d'un article à fumer qui, lorsqu'il est appliqué autour d'une colonne de tabac, apporte une amélioration dans le goût de la première bouffée de fumée et dans l'arôme des bouffées de fumée secondaires. On atteint cet objectif en façonnant une feuille de cellulose contenant une petite quantité, inférieure à environ 2 %, de charbon actif ayant absorbé un arôme volatil.
