Summary:A starting sulphur dye is treated in an aqueous reducing medium, preferably an aqueous mixture of alkali and reducing sugar, to form a solution which is then oxidized to form a slurry of dye particles having improved characteristics and which may be processed to fine sulphur dye dispersions of controlled narrow range particle size. On traite un colorant de départ au soufre dans un milieu réducteur aqueux, de préférence un mélange aqueux d'alcali et de sucre réducteur, de manière à former une solution que l'on oxyde pour former une suspension épaisse de particules de colorant présentant des caractéristiques améliorées et pouvant être transformées en dispersions fines de colorant au soufre dont la granulométrie est comprise dans une plage étroite et contrôlée.
