Compositions and process for preparing polymer-antibiotic conjugates are disclosed. The polymer is conjugated to the antibiotic via a covalent bond. Specific polymers that are useful in the present invention include polyalkalene glycols, copolymers of different polyalkalene glycols, polyvinylpyrrolidone, polyvinyl alcohol, homopolymers of amino acids, cellulose and cellulose derivatives, starch and starch derivatives. Preferred antibiotics are those which have a low therapeutic index. Les compositions et la méthode pour préparer les conjugués polymères antibiotiques sont divulguées.
