Summary:Disclosed is an improved process for the preparation of haloaromatic amines by the catalytic hydrogenation of halonitroaromatic compounds in the presence of a chromium-containing Raney cobalt catalyst. The catalyst gives good hydrogenation rates while minimizing formation of dehalogenated by-products.
