Summary: | Polysaccharide PS-A isolated from the plant of genus Epimedium violaceum Morr. et decne. having the following properties, process for its preparation, and an infection-preventing agent and an immunostimulating agent containing same as an effective ingredient: 1. Elemental analysis: C=40.92, H=6.17, ash= trace; 2. Molecular Weight: 75,000 + 25,000 (mean molecular weight); 3. Decomposition point: 205C; 4. pH: 7.0 (100 mg of PS-A in 50 ml of water); 5. Specific rotary power: [ alpha ] = -23.6 (in H2O, c = 0.527); 6. IR absorption spectrum: nu KBr max (cm<-1>): 3400, 2900, 1620, 1400, 1230, 1060; 7. UV absorption spectrum: no maximum absorptions in 240 to 400 nm; 8. Appearance: white to slightly brown amorphous powder; 9. Solubility: soluble in water, insoluble in methanol, ethanol, acetone, ethyl, acetate, diethyl ether, hexane, and chloroform; 10. Color reaction: positive for the following reactions: (a) anthrone test, (b) Molisch reaction, (c) skatole reaction, (d) Bial reaction; negative for the following reactions: (a) ninhydrin reaction, (b) 2,4-DNP reaction, (c) Selivanoff reaction, (d) naphthoresorcin reaction, (e) carbazole reaction; 11. Constitutive sugar: arabinose and galactose; 12. Uniformity, uniform in ultracentrifugation, electrophoresis, and gel filtration.

Analyse elementaire: C = 40,92, H = 6,17, cendres = traces; poids moleculaire: 75.000+ 25.000 (poids moleculaire moyen); temperature de decomposition: 205 C; pH: 7,0 (100mg de PS-A dans 50 ml d'eau); pouvoir rotatoire specifique: (((Alpha))19 = -23,6 (dans H2O, C = 0, 527); spectre d'absorption infrarouge: (Alpha) max (cm-1): 3400, 2900, 1620, 1400, 1230, 1060; spectre d'absortion dans l'ultraviolet: pas de maximums d'absorption dans la bande de 240 a 400 nm; aspect: poudre amorphe de couleur blanche a legerement brune; solubilite: soluble dans l'eau, insoluble dans le methanol, l'ethanol, l'acetone, l'acetate d'ethyle, le diethyle ether, l'hexane et le chloroforme; reactions colorees: positives dans les reactions suivantes: a) test a l'anthrone, b) reaction de Molisch, c) reaction au scatole, d) reaction de Bial, et negatives dans les reactions suivantes: a) reaction a la ninhydrine, b) reaction au 2,4-DNP, c) reaction de Selivanoff, d) reaction a la naphtoresorcine, e) reaction au carbazole; sucres constitutifs: arabinose et galactose; uniformite: uniforme a l'ultracentrifugation, l'electrophorese et la filtration sur gel. |
