Summary:An improved process for preparing 0-(2,6-dichloroanilino) phenylacetic acid, which comprises reacting 0-chlorophenylacetic acid or an alkali metal salt thereof with 2,6-dichloroaniline in the presence of a copper compound or a copper dust and a base in a polar solvent with addition of an alkali metal halide accelerator and distilling the solvent out of the reaction system during progress of the reaction, or which comprises reacting 0-chlorophenylacetic acid or an alkali metal salt thereof with 2,6-dichloroaniline in the presence of a base and 0.5 mole or more, per mole of 0-chlorophenylacetic acid, of a copper salt and/or a copper dust in a polar solvent with addition of an alkali metal halide accelerator. The product has anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic effects. Un procede ameliore de preparation de l'acide o-2,6-dichloroanilino)-phenylacetique consiste a faire reagir l'acide o-chlorophenylacetique ou un sel de metal alcalin avec la 2,6-dichloroaniline en presence d'un compose de cuivre ou d'une poussiere de cuivre et une base dans un solvant polaire avec addition d'un accelerateur d'halogenure de metal alcalin et a faire sortir par distillation le solvant du systeme de reaction pendant que la reaction a lieu, ou consiste a faire reagir l'acide o-chlorophenylacetique ou un sel de metal alcalin avec la 2, 6-dichloroaniline en presence d'une base et 0, 5 mole ou plus par mole d'acide o-chlorophenyl acetique, d'un sel de cuivre et/ou d'une poussiere de cuivre dans un solvant polaire avec addition d'un accelerateur d'halogenure de metal alcalin. Le produit possede des effets anti-inflammatoires, analgesiques et anti-pyretiques.
