The present invention provides a specific peptide; and a cosmetic composition for inhibiting or alleviating excessive sebum secretion and a pharmaceutical composition for preventing, alleviating, or treating excessive sebum secretion, each comprising the peptide as an active ingredient. The peptide inhibits the interaction between FOXO4 and p53 and, as a result, significantly increases in the interaction between p53 and RNA Polymerase II (POLII), thereby inducing apoptosis of sebaceous cells.
