Knit scaffolds for culturing cells and aiding in the healing of functional tissue are provided. The knit scaffolds have properties aligned with specific tissues for providing optimal tissue growing surfaces including matched biomechanical properties. The scaffolds are made up of knitted material and do not require or utilize a support skeleton for function. Methods of making and using the knit scaffolds are also provided. L'invention concerne des échafaudages à mailles visant la culture de cellules et l'aide à la cicatrisation de tissu fonctionnel. Les échafaudages à mailles présentent des propriétés correspondant à des tissus spécifiques pour former des surfaces de croissance tissulaire optimales comprenant des propriétés biomécaniques mises en correspondance. Les échafaudages sont constitués d'un matériau à mailles et ne nécessitent pas ni n'utilise de squelette de support pour être opérants. Des procédés de fabrication et d'utilisation des échafaudages à mailles sont en outre décrits.
