Summary:The present invention relates to valuable metal reactants, valuable metal shreds, and a method of recovering valuable metals. The valuable metal reactants of the present invention are valuable metal reactants including valuable metals recovered from waste batteries and comprise a first valuable metal-containing material containing a magnetic material, a second valuable metal-containing material containing a non-magnetic material, a carbon compound containing carbon, and other residual impurities, wherein the first valuable metal-containing material contains a third valuable metal-containing material and a first lithium compound attached to the surfaces of the third valuable metal-containing material, and the lithium content of the first lithium compound may include 1.5% or more of lithium, by weight%, in the first valuable metal-containing material.
