Disclosed in the present invention is a method for allocating virtual hardware resources of a host machine of a cloud computing platform. The method comprises the following steps: (1) collecting hardware resource information of each physical host, wherein the hardware resource information comprises processor resource information, memory resource information and storage resource information; (2) collecting a hardware requirement list of virtual machines to be subjected to allocation; (3) using an exhaustion method to calculate all potential resource allocation schemes according to total resource amount information, which is collected in step (1), and hardware requirement information of the virtual machines to be subjected to allocation, which hardware requirement information is acquired in step (2); (4) calculating the utilization rates of physical machine processor resources, memory resources and storage resources under each allocation scheme; and (5) outputting all potential physical machine hardware resourc
