A head-mounted display according to one aspect of the present technology is equipped with a first , a second component, and a securing component. The first component includes a first pad that contacts a first part of a user's face. The second component includes a second pad that contacts a second part of the user's face that is different from the first part thereof. The securing component allows for the second component to be secured with respect to the first component, and is configured so that the securing of the second component with respect to the first component is released when the user performs a prescribed operation.
